Sustainable Development of the Mekong Delta

On the morning of June 16th, at the VNUHCM Administration Building, a seminar to provide feedback for the draft framework of the national program “Science and technology to respond to climate change for sustainable development in the Mekong Delta, period by 2030” took place. Mr. Le Quang Thanh – Head of Department of Social and Natural Sciences, Ministry of Science and Technology, was in attendance.

AI is the strategic orientation for Science and Technology development of VNUHCM

In 2021, the Government announced a decision on a national strategy for research, development and application of artificial intelligence (AI). This strategy aims to render Vietnam a center for innovation and development of AI solutions in ASEAN and the world.

Triển khai thực hiện kế hoạch chiến lược (KHCL) khoa học, công nghệ và đổi mới sáng tạo (KH, CN và ĐMST) của ĐHQG-HCM giai đoạn trung hạn 2021-2025, bao gồm 02 nhiệm vụ trọng tâm: (i) Một là, đẩy mạnh công bố quốc tế với mục tiêu tăng nhanh số công bố khoa học quốc tế trong cơ sở dữ liệu Scopus/ Web of Science; (ii) Hai là, tăng cường sức mạnh hệ thống thông qua tập hợp các nguồn lực toàn hệ thống trong triển khai thực hiện các nhiệm vụ KH&CN cấp Quốc gia.

VNUHCM Secures Two International Patents in the US

As of December 2022, VNUHCM has been granted two patents by the US Patent and Trademark Office in the fields of materials technology and environmental technology. VNUHCM is proceeding with the submission of international patent applications designated for the US, with four applications being reviewed. It is anticipated that in 2023, VNUHCM will obtain an additional three international patents. two typical inventions of VNUHCM granted US patents in 2022 are “New metal-organic framework” and “Submerged Tubular Membrane Distillation (STMD) Method and Apparatus for desalination to create fresh water from seawater, salt water, brackish water”.
