2 young scientists of VNU-HCM won The Golden Globe Award for Science and TechnologyEnglish title for …

They are Dr. Ha Thi Thanh Huong and Ms. Nguyen Ho Thuy Linh (MSc) among the 10 young scientists honored. The Award Ceremony took place on the evening of October 27 in Hanoi, jointly organized by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Dr. Ha Thi Thanh Huong was presented with an award in the field of Medical and Pharmaceutical technology.

Dr. Ha Thi Thanh Huong (34 years old) is Head of the Department of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, International University, VNUHCM. She has conducted research and written Brain Analytics software to analyze MRI images of patients’ brains and diagnose Alzheimer’s disease in an accurate, automatic, and rapid manner. This software has been designed and tested based on ADNI database (USA) with an accuracy of around 96%. It has been experienced by doctors and medical students from 8 different hospitals nationwide and received compliments for its features from 80% of them.
In respect of international publication, Dr. Huong has published three articles, two of which as first author, in the Q1 journals, two articles in the Q2 journals (one as first author), four articles in the Q3 journals (all as first or the only author), and one article in the Q4/Scopus journals. In addition, she also has an article in the international scientific journal, one article in the domestic scientific journal, eight articles at the Q4 international conference (five as first or only author), 2 scientific reports published in full paper in the international seminar/conference proceedings. Dr. Huong has led a facility project that was accepted and qualified all the requirements. She is also the author of three monographs and book chapters in consideration for award. Besides, she owns one technology product that is applied in practice at the unit, 8 international and national awards, 3 ministerial-level certificates of merit, and was the trainer of 13 bachelors.

MSc Nguyen Ho Thuy Linh was presented with an award in the field of Environmental Technology and New Materials Technology.

Ms. Nguyen Ho Thuy Linh (MSc, 33 years old) is Head of the Chemical, Biological and Environmental Materials Research Group, Center for Nanostructured and Molecular Materials Research, Vietnam National University-HCM (INOMAR). Her research bears a significant meaning in the field of new materials science, which studies the catalytic ability of Zr and Hf-MOF in the 2-aryl benzoxazole synthesis reaction. The study for the first time demonstrated the C-N cutting ability of the material by experiment and calculation according to density functional theory. Microwave energy was used to activate reactions towards synthesis according to the principles of green chemistry and successfully prepared more than 10 bioactive compounds.
MSc Linh has authored/co-authored 21 articles in the Q1 journals (six as first author), 17 articles in the Q2 journals (six as first author), and 4 articles in the national scientific journals (one as first author). Additionally, she was the principal investigator of 2 ministerial-level projects and equivalent and 2 instituion-level projects which were accepted and qualified the requirements. She has also authored a book chapter (ISSN-indexed), received 4 ministerial certificates of merit, and successfully advised 5 undergraduate graduation thesis.
The Golden Globe Award for Science and Technology is an annual award that aims to recognize and celebrate exceptional young talents under 35 who are studying, researching, and working in the country and abroad in 5 specific fields: Technology Information; Digital Transformation and Automation; Medical and Pharmaceutical Technology; Biotechnology; Environmental Technology and New Materials Technology.
