On the morning of December 13, at the VNUHCM Administration building, Science and Training Council of Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM) for the term of 2023-2026 held its second meeting.

The Council voted to approve the proposal to establish a major in science and technology training and activities at VNUHCM.

The Council listened to the report requesting approval for the opening of new training majors and science and technology activities presented by Dr.Duong Ton Thai Duong, Vice Director of Department of Academic Affairs, and Associate Professor Dr. Lam Quang Vinh, Director of Department of Science and Technology.

The Council agreed with the proposal to open programs in IC design and semiconductor technology at University of Technology, University of Science (for Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees), and University of Information Technology (for Bachelor’s degree).

An Giang University was approved by the Council to open a new PhD program in Crop Science, marking the first PhD training program at An Giang University.

The Council also voted unanimously with proposals on key science and technology tasks in 2024; the plan for implementing commissioned tasks according to strategy and investing in equipment funded by the World Bank for VNUHCM.
