Promoting international cooperation, training and research efficiency

In the context of the world becoming increasingly deeply integrated, in the field of higher education, bilateral and multilateral cooperation and development activities on a global scale are increasingly strengthened at VNUHCM and its member institution.

Expand international cooperation

VNUHCM considers efforts in expanding cooperative relations with foreign countries to be a pivotal strategy to gain access to advanced higher education in the region and worldwide and move toward international excellence.

During the period 2018-2022, VNUHCM had been expanding its international partner network by signing 316 cooperation documents with higher education institutions and international educational associations. Among them, there are 165 partners from 16 Asian countries (mainly from Japan, Taiwan, Korea, and Thailand); 100 partners from 23 European countries (predominantly from France, Germany, Poland, and England); 34 partners from the United States and Canada, and 17 partners from Australia and New Zealand.

Expanding cooperation abroad not only enhances the image of VNUHCM in the international arena but also provides opportunities to develop the capacity of lecturers and students through student and lecturer exchange activities staff, training cooperation, research, vocational counseling – guidance, and sponsorship acceptance. In particular, in recent years, through signing cooperation agreements on non-refundable technical projects, VNUHCM has successfully promoted many sponsored projects from Australia, the United States, and Korea, contributing to the improvement of University Urban Area infrastructure, the heightened training quality and scientific research competence, resulting in many practical achievements for the community.

Actively attend international educational events

In 2022, VNUHCM has successfully affirmed its status and pioneering role by attending major events of the regional and global academic network, some of which are the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference and the Vietnam-UK Education Cooperation Forum, the Southeast Asia University Rectors’ Conferences, Southeast Asia Leaders Conference, the TF-NUS PLUM Southeast Asia Leaders’ Summit, to name just a few.

Having participated in such significant and prestigious international educational events, VNUHCM had opportunities to approach and acquire advanced models of training, scientific research, and higher education governance. At the same time, VNUHCM and other Vietnamese higher education institutions also had the opportunities to share our achievements, experiences, and solutions on major issues of regional and world higher education involving challenges and opportunities of the COVID-19 epidemic for higher education institutions; the role of higher education in implementing sustainable development goals; innovation and entrepreneurship encouragement; Trends in multi-disciplinary training and research among others.

By actively engaging in international educational events, VNUHCM has connected with many foreign partners to develop internal capacity, attract international students, enhance training quality, and cooperate in scientific research.
