The 2nd meeting of the Social Sciences and Humanities Interdisciplinary Research Club
On the Saturday morning of October 28th, 2023, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), VNUHCM hosted the 2nd Interdisciplinary Research Club gathering.
The focus of this gathering is to bolster international publications in the Scopus database, foster a convivial atmosphere for academic exchange, and seek to consolidate collaboration among scholars within Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City system.
Dr. Truong Thi Thu Hang, Dean of Faculty of Anthropology and Head of Development Anthropology Department, USSH, VNUHCM served as the keynote speaker for the occasion. Holding a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Washington, Seattle, USA, Dr. Truong Thi Thu Hang has earned a great reputation for her work exploring local community responses to challenges posed by climate change, globalization, and national integration.
During her session, Dr. Truong Thi Thu Hang delved into the topic of “Accompanying Research Subjects in Anthropological Fieldwork”. Her presentation focused on the research methodologies, being particularly demonstrated by the field trip to the Long Son Big House in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province, showcasing the culture of writing calligraphy in the Big House.
The event garnered enthusiasm and participation from over 40 attendees, including lecturers, researchers, graduate students, and undergraduates primarily hailing from faculties from University of Social Sciences and Humanities and University of Economics and Law.
The series of Interdisciplinary Club activities in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities is held periodically every 2 weeks. The VNUHCM is hosting the 3rd thematic event on November 11th, 2023, followed by the 4th event on November 25, 2023, both to be held at the University of Economics and Law.
