Exhibition of 200 scientific and technological products celebrating the 30th Anniversary of VNUHCM
Nearly 200 outstanding science and technology products across various fields, including information technology, artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductor design, advanced materials, nanotechnology, biotechnology, biomedical sciences, agriculture, food technology, environment, and energy, were showcased by VNUHCM to mark its 30th anniversary. The science, technology, and innovation exhibition, organized by VNUHCM, took place from February 22 to 23, 2025, at VNUHCM’s Executive Building.

As science and technology continue to drive socio-economic development, VNUHCM remains at the forefront of research and technology transfer. The event, themed “University-Locality-Business Connection Day,” not only highlights key achievements but also fosters stronger collaboration among scientists, businesses, and local authorities.
In the field of AI, VNUHCM aims to become a leading research and application hub in ASEAN, developing a multi-disciplinary AI ecosystem and some practical AI-powered innovations, including: OneHealth AI Chatbot, which plays a crucial role in post-COVID-19 healthcare management by tracking symptoms and providing remote medical consultations; AI-powered Smart Education Management System, designed to enhance teaching efficiency and support personalized learning. The exhibition showcased a product for experiencing, namely “Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space at VNUHCM,” in a 3D virtual reality environment. This AI-driven application contributes to building the culture and people of Ho Chi Minh City in general. It helps the staff, laborers, and students of VNUHCM, in particular, to have a comprehensive development in association with President Ho Chi Minh’s moral ideology and living style. This initiative encourages students to develop integrity, responsibility, and a strong connection to their cultural heritage, reinforcing the unique identity at VNUHCM.

Core-Tech4.0: – a platform that integrates data analysis, multi-physics simulations, machine learning, and digital twin technology to optimize production in small and medium-sized mechanical manufacturing enterprises.
In the field of semiconductor and IC design, VNUHCM is also a pioneer, contributing to the global semiconductor supply chain. Some of its notable innovations include: 32-bit RISC-V CPU, designed to optimize computing and control performance for embedded and industrial applications; Analog Front-End Chip, which facilitates data acquisition in IoT systems while ensuring smart connectivity and energy efficiency; DCT Chip with H.265 Compression Standard, utilizing CORDIC algorithms to enhance image compression efficiency and reduce bandwidth consumption; RF Tuner Chip, which improves the accuracy of digital television signal reception; and 10Gbps Optical Transceiver Chip, a key component in high-speed data transmission for next-generation telecommunications and networking technologies.

VNUHCM’s research in advanced materials focuses on developing high-tech materials with groundbreaking properties. Biogenic nano silica not only has biomedical applications but also holds the potential to replace traditional synthetic materials, enhancing treatment effectiveness while reducing environmental impact. Meanwhile, Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) boast exceptional energy absorption and storage capabilities, paving the way for advancements in fuel cells and hydrogen storage. In the field of environmental monitoring, nano-sensor systems for aquaculture enable real-time water quality tracking, improving productivity and safeguarding aquatic ecosystems. Additionally, next-generation thermoelectric materials allow for the conversion of waste heat into electricity, optimizing energy use in both industrial and residential applications.

VNUHCM’s achievements in biotechnology and medicine go beyond cancer and cardiovascular treatment, aiming to develop high-value, locally-produced pharmaceuticals for commercialization. Research in gene therapy and tissue engineering supports personalized treatments, improving therapeutic outcomes while minimizing side effects. Furthermore, advancements in vaccine production and monoclonal antibody technology are helping to combat infectious diseases and enhance immune resilience.

For the sustainable environmental and energy technologies, VNUHCM is actively applying cutting-edge technologies in environmental management and sustainable energy development. The DTRO (Double-Tube Reverse Osmosis) wastewater treatment system efficiently removes contaminants, providing clean water for industrial and residential use. Meanwhile, next-generation lithium-ion batteries offer higher efficiency, faster charging times, and longer lifespans, making them ideal for mobile devices and electric vehicles. Additionally, research on renewable energy sources is also gaining traction, with advancements in next-gen solar panels, green hydrogen fuel, and thermal energy storage systems offering innovative solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainability.

Several innovations are ready for deployment, such as: Automated salinity monitoring systems, which help farmers and agribusinesses proactively manage agricultural production; Upgraded OCOP (One Commune One Product) items, enhanced with modern technology to boost their commercial value; Digital transformation solutions in education, healthcare, and industry, designed to enhance efficiency and optimize resources.
